The linocut from Sybil today is one I call Escalating. I can imagine this scene, although I haven’t used an escalator since I was about 10 years old. I never liked them; I was always scared an escalator was waiting to eat me if I missed my step getting off!
The limited colour palettes of Sybil’s work intrigue me too. I realise it would be easy to pick colours directly from her originals. This piece was very tempting in that regard because I love the colours.
Instead, now I’m trying to choose a palette that might be similar, but a little different; Here, for example, the primary colours are still yellow, green, blue and black but in pastels.
